Abstract:

This short technical note derives the expression that is often used in our documents for excess noise. I also discuss the various excess noise factors, primarily due to the finite detector PE resolution and the PMT base design for now (updates to come). Effects of PMT base design on long-term longevity of the PMT are also briefly discussed.
